Vulcan farewell this weekend 10/11 Oct 'Going ahead!'
The world's last remaining flying Vulcan bomber is to make its final appearance in the skies with a two day farewell tour in October.

The iconic aircraft, based at Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport is due to finally bow out with a spectacular nationwide sortie on October 10-11.

But fans of XH558 are being warned to stay away from the airport to catch a glimpse of the plane over crowd safety fears.

Owners Vulcan To The Sky Trust said: "A celebratory national tour, XH558's most ambitious ever, is being planned for Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October.

PS It could get cancelled due to Police concerns over crowds!

Will never happen Sub... just need a a few jump leads and that fucker roars into action.... the reason why Surrey and Kent don't take the piss is that they know we have the capabilities of flattening the fuckers...

It will be a sad day when the Vulcan in Rochford is broken down and sold off as scrap metal.

I'm not a scouser, but if I were, I'd demand the players at Roots Hall wore black arm bands, or have a minute's silence, or something.

Have the pleasure of seeing one every day on the way to work... it's nice knowing that Rochford has the capabilities of dropping a nuclear bomb on anyone that starts any shit on us...

Red Pelicans? Were they not the ones flying Jet Provosts and based at RAF Halton?

They certainly flew the Provost jet, Mike, but I always thought they were based at RAF Kemble in Gloucestershire, but could be wrong there, as I said, I was only a nipper.

The Vulcan was fantastic yesterday, and we fortunately had a fantastic view as it came in right over our heads as we were outside The Aviator pub at Staverton airport. Got some great footage on the iphone, but obviously not able to download it here...

its a superb machine, the British version of the Blackbird (albeit i know the Blackbird was a spy plane, not a nuclear bomber).

Its a crying shame its going to be mothballed. We used to make these things. Now we cant event maintain them.

I think it's doing another flyover but don't know where or when.

I've seen it 3 times this year.

For a plane to bring so many people together is an achievement, there were hundreds of people on the promenade today.

Would have liked to have seen the big V. Was a clear day which was good for all those that went. I remember the last fly over Central London there was a lot of cloud cover and no one saw anything :-(

Watched it fly over Tilbury towards G'town then turn left and fly down the Thames.

Massive schoolboy with my camera though, i was doing the settings and my mates wanted a look through the zoom, let them do that and i forgot to complete the settings, the Vulcan turned up and i was thinking somethings wrong as it wasn't firing quickly enough, by that time it was gone! :-(

I have never seen the Vulcan, I have seen a few spitfires and Lancasters fly right above near Biggin Hill, tremendous din. The Lancaster most impressed me due to the shear size and noise. The other plane I saw take off and land at Brands Hatch Grand Prix many years ago was the Harrier, that was a spectacle.

There I was on my way to screwfix when a bloomin huge camouflaged triangle flew overhead.
I'm not an aircraft nut but that was truly an impressive sight.

Drove through North Weald just by chance at the time it flew over, what a sight.
